Portlandia

Hello from Astoria, Oregon! I am blogging tonight from the entrance of the Columbia river at Pier 38 RV park (http://www.oldoregon.com/lodging/entry/pier-38-rv-park/) . I left Portland today after having a great weekend with Gene and Lisa Miller and their new baby Winter!
On the way to Portland, I stopped to see Micheal Thurmond as planned. I really wanted to hate Boise, since UGA is playing Boise State on September 3rd, but I soon realized that Boise is actually a pretty cool town. Thurmond and I visited the infamous blue field after lung the next day as I seriously considered vandalizing it with some red and black paint.

In Portland I did a few bike tours downtown solo and with Gene, went to a few social gatherings with the Millers, drank some reallllly good beers, went to the worlds largest independent book store powells (http://www.powells.com/), I visited pioneer square (http://www.pioneercourthousesquare.org/), deshutes brewery http://www.deschutesbrewery.com/, Rogue Brewery http://www.rogue.com/, and Washington Park (Portland is famous for its parks).

Tomorrow I am going fishing with Sea Star Fishing Charters, http://www.seastarfishingcharters.com/, to hopefully catch a Salmon! Ill post pictures ASAP

Mmmm I smell the trash can...

I biked to Washington Park on Saturday.
The crowns of some trees in Washington Park

The Overlook and what I thought was the top of the hill....

Big ole trees

You can see Mount Hood in the background (dormant volcano)

This is actually the top of the mountain/hill.... about 2 miles further up

These were some odd large cylindrical shaped objects on the top of the mountain that were not labeled.... I think its like one of those grain bins in the midwest where they hide Nukes maybe

I biked to the top to see this place and I was 20 mins too late to see it. That hill really got me...

International Rose Test Gardens

Nice rose snapshot

Feeding "W" her night cap
